Movie Character – Leia Organa – Expanded

Leia Organa Solo in Swarm Wars

Leia Organa Solo in Swarm Wars, as a Jedi Knight

Princess Leia Organa faces many trials not only during her time with the Rebellion, but also afterward. The first personal challenge is dealing with her discovery that Luke Skywalker is her brother and Darth Vader AKA Anakin Skywalker is her biological Father.

Adopted and raised by Bail Organa of Alderaan, her skills led to her being both a leader of the Rebel Alliance and a chief architect of the New Republic.  This led to unusual challenges, such as suitors wanting to marry her for political alliance, rather than love. Due to her duties to the Alliance, she seriously considered this but ultimately marries Han Solo.

Given the discovery of who her Father is, Leia is reluctant (if not outright afraid) to use her birthright of Force sensitivity and Jedi potential. She’s also afraid to have children.

This fear she eventually overcomes, and she has three, Jacen and Jaina (twins) and young Anakin, who she named, in part, to redeem her Father’s name and remind herself that great evil can be redeemed for good.

Leia Organa and her Career:

High points of Leia’s career include her becoming Chief of State of the New Republic for several decades, until right before a peace treaty is reached with the Empire. She also went on to become a full Jedi Knight.

The vast majority of stories after Return of the Jedi feature Leia, but here are some highlights:

Dealing with her relationship with Vader / Anakin as her biological father:

Truce at Bakura,
Tatooine Ghost
Planet of Twilight.

Birth of her children and it’s consequences:

Tenel Ka prefers her Dathomiri heritage, as her Hapan heritage is full of back stabbing and assassination attempts. However, she does put the welfare of her people, both of her peoples, above her own.

Tenek Ka defended the New Republic against the Shadow Academy, Diversity Alliance and the last Black Sun plot. She also has had to prevent numerous assassination attempts against her own family: the royal family of Hapan. She  sacrificed much in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong as did her people. She has one daughter, Allana.

Spoiler for New Jedi Order

Tenel Ka was forced to choose to take the throne when her mother, Tenenial Djo was assassinated or let it fall to other’s of her family who would have cast the New Republic refugees to the Yuuzhan Vong.

Movie Character – Chewbacca – Expanded

Chewbacca

Chewbacca, in his own tribute comic book by Dark Horse. This was a mini series of 4 issues.

Chewbacca the wookiee was of the village,  Rwookrrorro. His family included  his father, Attichicuk, a sister, Kallabow, nephew, Lowbacca, and eventually a wife named Mallatobuck and son named Lumpawarrump.

Chewbacca lived through the Clone Wars as well as the Rebellion. During his early years he was adventurous and brave, battling would be slavers on his home world. Eventually he left home and was captured by Trandoshan’s, and released for the Great Hunt. This was a mistake on the trandoshan’s part, as it led to meeting with Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s jedi apprentice who had also been captured. They, with the others taken for the Hunt, turned the tide and escaped.

By the end of the Clone Wars when his world was invaded, he returned to fight, but not, apparently to his home village, and fought alongside old friends like Tarfful. During this time the Clones turned on the Jedi and he helped Yoda escaped.

He fought the Empire in his own way for a time, freeing the young captive wookiees enslaved even if they were from rival tribes. When captured himself, he urged them to rise up together to fight. When the Empire arrived, all were gone. The soldier finding him refused to kill him on direct orders….more than once, even after he was put on a slave detail. That soldier was Han Solo, who lost his career over it. Chewbacca felt he owed him a life debt and over time the two became partners and confidants. Chewbacca was his co pilot even before he won the Millenium Falcon.

‘Chewie’ helped Han in his smuggling career, often acting as his conscience.  Eventually he made his way home of a visit and proposed marriage to his old flame, Mallatobuck, in traditional wookiee fashion. She accepted. Afterward he went back to adventuring with Han, but in the meantime he had a son, Lumpawarrump. His father, Attichicuk, looked after them.

Chewbacca went on to help the Rebellion with Han and after Han and Leia were married and had children, he was often time both body guard and baby sitter. For him, nothing was more important than family, both his and Han’s.  His own nephew was trained as a Jedi.

Mara Jade’s earliest history is unknown. What is known is that she was taken as a child by the Emperor and trained to be ‘The Emperor’s Hand’. She could hear his voice from across the galaxy. Her training in using the Force allowed her to fight for Imperial justice and take down criminals as well as corrupt Imperial officials. Mara truly believed in the Empire and it’s Justice.

As the Emperor died, he reached out one last time and gave her a false message of both Luke and Vader turning on him and killing him.

After his death she fell in with Talon Karrde, a smuggler chief who began grooming her as his right hand. It was working for him that led her to a meeting with Luke Skywalker which would affect the rest of her life.

“Anakin”
That startled him. His name rang like a H’kig chime, nothing fuzzy about it.
“I’m coming Tahiri,” He whispered.
“Anakin”…but the sense of the words dissolved into emotion. Fear, grief, hope. Wordlessly he reached for her, to give her the equivalent of the squeeze on the hand, and found himself instead in a tight, desperate embrace.
